Well the bathroom/ laundry room remodel started on July 19, Monday. Larry the contractor called at 8:30 am. to ask if we are prepared for the dumpster and demolition to get started? I said I am about as ready as having a baby to start!

That's right, all these months of drawing, dreaming, borrowing money... we finally get the old leaky bathroom remoded! And it does feel like we are having a baby, months of waiting, now pow, we are in labor. I'm sorry but no matter how much you read, breathe, prepare for an event, when it is finally here, it feels surreal.

Well what the contractor and his worker discovered in this demolition is a LOT of wet wood, wood rot. They went down to the foundation, which is cement blocks and dirt, and up past the ceiling joists. We uncovered another ceiling with wallpaper, it used to be a kitchen. We knew these rooms were one kitchen back in the 1920's, then the present kitchen was the back porch. In the 1920's is when this house (built in 1899) got its first electricity and plumbing. Now in last century, there was major remodel in the kitchen. Now this millenium, new electric panel, new bathroom, laundry room.

When we leave on vacation, Aug 3, count down to 8 days, I hope they will put the new fixtures in that are sitting in my dining room. Hallelujah!

Well its pretty exciting and busy around here!!!
 
We are getting the house remodeled after living in this century old house for 20 years. We got the contractor, he brings the dumpster to start work July 20, 2004.  We will be in Ohio, for 10 days in August, and give him the key, and voila, hopefully a brand new bathroom when we return. Well let's get real, it is not extreme makeover, they won't be able to get it done in 3 weeks, but we can hope!
 
The other exciting part is that our trip is planned and paid for, itinery set, leaving time for impulse fun, we time, me time, mother- daughter time, no time.
